7 reasons to do email marketing

Contrary to what some believe, email marketing is not dying. In fact, it is going stronger than ever. Here are the top 7 reasons to do email marketing.

     1.You make more money!

According to Dan Oshinsky, the Director of Newsletters at Buzzfeed, email marketing consistently turns marketing dollars into revenu. Simply put, for ten years in a row for each dollar spent on email marketing there has been an average Return on Investment (ROI) of 38 dollars.

  1. You have more customers!

While Facebook and Twitter are talked about, along with social media like SnapChat and Instagram, email still remains the most used platform by customers. In fact, The Radicati Group (a technology market research firm) contends that The total number of worldwide email accounts was 3.9 billion in 2013, and projected to reach 4.9 billion by 2017. That is 3 times the number of FB and Twitter accounts COMBINED.

  1. Customers hear what you have to say.

This is because up to 90% of emails sent to customers reach their inbox, compared with only 2% who see facebook feeds (as reported by Forrester Research).

In addition, with stricter laws on e-mail and spam, customers who are receiving your email have a higher percentage of opening the mail than reading a post because they have specifically asked for the email and confirmed their accounts.

  1. Buying rates are higher from email campaigns

Statistics from a survey conducted by Monetate break down the figures: 4.24% of customers from email marketing buy something on a your website as compared to 2.49% of visitors from search engines and 0.59% from social media.

  1. Email campaigns can be highly specialized

The more information you get from companies, the more you can tailor messages and products to potential customers, increasing ROI rates. For instance, if Danish Statistics are to be believed, a grocery store could more effectively sell a man in his 60s living in Aalborg a bottle of Danish bitters, whereas they would be more likely to sell organic avocados to a woman in her 30s living in Copenhagen.

  1. People prefer to receive promotional offers through email

Most people use facebook for personal reasons, such as messaging friends or seeing photos from family members. In contrast, email is the preferred method to receive offers, sales or other types of professional information according to studies from Marketing Sherpa.

  1. Email is a stable platform

Trends in social media come and go. Email has been around for decades and is still one of the most consistent online marketing platforms to use. In fact, way back in 1978 a promotional campaign was sent to about 400 people, and as we can see, that number has risen exponentially. While social media sites like Facebook and Twitter shouldn’t be ignored, it would also be a mistake to over invest in media platforms that might not last in popularity as trends shift. An example of this is MySpace, which was huge from 2005-2008 but is now ranked 1,500 as the most popular media site in the US.

All in all, it’s clear that email marketing could be a vital tool for local businesses in Copenhagen.
